Strong start doesn't carry Blue Jackets to victory against Pittburgh
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 on Saturday evening in front of a capacity crowd atNationwide Arena.
It was a Jekyll and Hyde performance for the CBJ. The hosts jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as captain Boone Jenner got his first goal of the campaign seven minutes into the contest. Fellow centerman Jack Roslovic doubled the lead near the end of the period off a turnover in the Penguins defensive zone to give the Union Blue a 2-0 advantage.
Josh Archibald stopped the bleeding for the Penguins, albeit temporarily with a goal at the 3:43 in the second period.
Jackets rookie Kent Johnson answered 14 seconds later with a goal of his own to restore the two-goal advantage. That would be the final tally for the CBJ as the visitors scored five unanswered goals, including three in the third period to collect the victory.
The Penguins improve their record to 4-0-1 on the season while the Jackets fall to 2-4-0 this season.
Columbus returns to action on Sunday, traveling to New York to battle the Rangers. The puck drops at 5 PM.
