The Ohio State University Department of Athletics has scheduled three non-conference football games at Ohio Stadium, including one in the 2024 season and two in 2029, and changed the date of an existing non-conference game in 2024, as well.
The 2024 Western Michigan game has been moved up from Sept. 21 to Sept. 7 and the school added Marshall for the same season, which will be played on Sept. 21.
Nevada and UNC-Charlotte were added as non-conference home games in 2029 with the Wolfpack coming into town on Sept. 1 and the 49ers invading Ohio Stadium the following weekend. Both schools represent first-time opponents for the Buckeyes while the Broncos and Thundering Herd will be repeat opponents.
Ohio State and Marshall have previously met twice: in 2004, where the Scarlet and Gray needed a last second, Mike Nugent 55-yard field goal to pull out a 24-21 win whereas the Buckeyes cruised to a 45-7 win in 2010. That second matchup was a Thursday night season-opener, which was the first time since OSU's first-ever Thursday night season-opener against Wyoming in 1997.
The Buckeyes and Broncos have played only one time previous, a 38-12 OSU win at Ohio Stadium in 2015.
As for next season, the Big Ten will announce the full schedule this fall. Ohio State’s non-conference portion of 2024 is set: Aug. 31 vs. Southern Mississippi, Sept. 7 vs. Western Michigan and Sept. 21 vs. Marshall. All three games will be played at Ohio Stadium.
