Jackets Outlast Devils in High Scoring Game
The Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Tuesday night while at home in Nationwide Arena. The win pushes the Jackets to (28-25-1) and the Devils to (19-30-5).
The game started off with a score from Jack Hughes at :54, giving New Jersey an early lead. Jake Christiansen answered for the Jackets at 13:08 for his first score of his career. Oliver Bjorkstrand brought Columbus into the lead with a score of his own at 17:35 to close out the period. There were 5 total penalties in the first, three to Columbus and two to New Jersey.
The second period began just as the first, this time with a goal from Boone Jenner at :46 to put the Jackets up 3-1. Nico Hischier scored once more for the Devils at 16:00 to close out the period.
The final period again started with a quick goal. Patrik Laine scored at 1:18 for his 20th goal of the season. Pavel Zacha found the goal at 7:07 for New jersey. Columbus finished off the game narrowly ahead, hanging on to win 4-3.
