Just five days removed from their last encounter, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers meet once again on Tuesday night inside of Nationwide Arena. The CBJ claimed a 5-2 victory over their Metropolitan Division foes but sustained numerous injuries in the process, including a season ending injury to defenseman Zach Werenski.
With the victory Columbus collected three-of-four possible points between the victory and subsequent 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders on November 12.
The Jackets now open the longest homestand of the season once again welcoming former head coach John Tortorella and the Flyers to Nationwide Arena. This homestand includes two visits from the Montreal Canadiens, a visit from the Detroit Red Wings, a rendezvous with the Florida Panthers, and a date with the Islanders before the CBJ returns to the road on Saturday, November 26.
What to watch for
Columbus has converted a powerplay goal in three of its past four contests (3-for-12 or 25%). They have also enjoyed production from several different players as 19 Blue Jackets have tallied a goal this season. That mark is tied for the second most behind Boston with 20 and Seattle with 19.
Despite the success on offense the Jackets need to shore thingsup in the defensive zone. The Union Blue have allowed a conference worst 61goals.
