Calgary Smacks Down Columbus 6-0
The Columbus Blue Jackets lost to The Calgary Flames 6-0 while at home in Nationwide Arena wednesday night. The loss pushes Columbus back to (18-21-1) and moves the Flames to (20-12-6).
The first period started with Mikael Backlund scoring at 4:21 into regulation. At 5:30 Calgary received a tripping penalty, unfortunately for the Jackets, they were unable to even things on the power play. Gus Nyquist received a tripping penalty as well at 13:41. The period closed out with Calgary up 1–0.
The second period quickly got out of hand for Columbus, with Yegor Chinakhov receiving a hooking penalty at 2:19 and Boone Jenner penalized for closing hand on puck at 3:03. The Jackets were able to fend off the Flames till 15:14 when Andrew Mangiapane scored, as well as Matthew Tkachuk scoring at 19:54 to end the period 3-0.
The Flames continued to dominate the Jackets in the third, scoring immediately at :30, courtesy of Elias Lindholm. Erik Gudbranson followed at 6:55 for his first goal of the season. The final score of the game came from Tkachuk once more at 7:36.
